There is coconut milk, water, oil, butter…what can’t it do???

So, what is coconut oil?

⠀⠀

Coconut oil comes from the “meat” of coconuts. The oil has a unique combination of fats (specifically medium-chain triglycerides or MCTs), which the body metabolizes differently than most other fats and can have beneficial effects for your body!

AND since saturated fat is solid at room temperature this makes it a great substitute for butter in vegan baked goods!

In small quantities coconut oil can help:

🤍Heart health: A few studies have shown that coconut oil can raise blood levels of HDL (good) cholesterol, which is linked to improved metabolic health and a lower risk of heart disease.

🤍Blood sugar: Early research suggests may help with reducing insulin resistance, which may help manage type 2 diabetes!

🤍Brain health: Early studies suggest that MCTs can increase blood levels of ketones, supplying energy for the brain cells of people with Alzheimer’s disease and relieving symptoms.
